NORS Annual Conference 2021
The NORS Annual Conference aims to be a meeting place for the Norwegian Operations Research community for exchanging ideas and presenting ongoing research. We especially encourage PhD candidates to present their work.
The conference hopes to bring researchers, practitioners, and students within Operations Research together to discuss industrial challenges, modeling approaches, and/or solution methods. The program includes parallel sessions focusing on current problems in the industry, existing applications, and ongoing research.
The conference will be hosted at NHH in Bergen.
Academic plenary speakers:
- Professor Miguel F. Anjos (confirmed to be on site), Professor and Chair of Operational Research in the School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh. In addition, Professor Anjos is a fellow of EUROPT, the European Working Group on Continuous Optimization, and the President of the INFORMS Section on Energy, Natural Resources, and the Environment. He is the Schöller Senior Fellow for 2020, holds an Inria International Chair, and is a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He is also a licensed professional engineer in Ontario and a senior member of IEEE. Professor Anjos’ research is concerned with using mathematical optimization to provide guaranteed optimal or near-optimal solutions for important classes of large-scale discrete nonlinear optimization problems arising in engineering applications.
- Professor Endre Bjørndal, Professor at the Department of Business and Management Science, NHH. He is an expert on analysis and regulation of energy markets, and his key areas of expertise include benchmarking and regulation of natural monopolies, pricing and congestion management in electricity markets, as well as intermittent renewables. He has participated in many research projects financed by the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE), Energy Norway and various energy companies, as well as the Norwegian Research Council.
Industry plenary speaker:
- Eivind Linderberg, Senior Advisor for automatic control systems and markets, Statnett. He is involved in a number of R&D, modeling and implementation projects across Statnett. His experience will provide important insights about upcoming modeling needs and challenges in the sector.
NORS 2021 Conference Special Issue
We will have a special issue for the conference in the journal Computational Management Science. We will come back with the call for papers.
